Edinburgh has a reputation for being a wet city, grey and misty much of the time. This is certainly true during the winter months when daylight hours are short and the cloud is low. However, this wonderfully atmospheric weather only adds to the romantic, cosy nature of a place filled with indoor entertainment. Rainfall is fairly consistent throughout the year but June and July can produce days of endless sunshine. Despite being in the North of the United Kingdom, the temperatures are not too severe. An average January will see the thermometers hovering around 1 degree Celsius (34 degrees Fahrenheit), rising steadily throughout the year to a high of approximately 19 degrees Celsius (66 degrees Fahrenheit) in July.
